We hardly hear about Iraq these days. The news media hardly covers the conflict, as we all know that the Americans and British will be out by 2011. Most British troops are off the street, and Basra is back in the hands of Iraqis.
And yet, people are being killed.Two suicide bombers attacked a Shia shrine in Baghdad yesterday, killing over 60 people. Someone will have to explain to me the thinking behind the suicide bomber. What exactly does he or she set out to achieve? What greater good of mankind is created by this act of madness? Muslims killing each other for what?
You do wonder what will happen to Iraq once all the coalition troops leave.
One thing is certain, none of this would have happened if Blair and Bush not invaded Iraq. Sectarian killings,attacks on women and mass murder is the by product of the invasion and occupation.Saddam may have been an evil bastard, but was he a threat to world peace?Bush and Blair obviously thought so and the Iraqi people are continuing to suffer.
So while they all write books,and earn huge fees for speeches, the torment will continue for the Iraqis.
I hope that there is a special place in Hell for Bush, Blair, Powell,Rumsfeld,Straw,Campbell and Perle.
