This year Channel Four celebrates its 25th anniverary. In a quarter of a century our television viewing habits habits have changed beyond all recognition.In 1982, we had four terrestrial channels. In 2007, we have countless cable and digital channels. We are spolit for choice.But in this multi channel world, do we have quality TV?
When a mainstream channel has on prime time, a programme like Wife Swap or You are what you eat, then you know that British TV has been seriously dumbed down.Reality TV has been the worst thing to happen to the quality of our programmes.Every dumb idea that we would have laughed at the 1980s has been devised,Brat Camp,Ten Years Younger and The Farm.If we want quality television,which means programes that will entertain and inform us, then the trash has got go.We know what they are, these are ones that may get us all talking but deep inside we know that its serious brain rot.
There are some programmes that need to be killed off once and for all.

As for ITV,it should be shut down until it can produce one decent quality programme.
We used to laugh at American TV,as we believed we had the best TV in the world.That was a long time ago.......
