Imagine a life where you spend your whole day being pampered.Shopping,getting your tan topped up,having your nails done,getting the extensions touched up.What a life!Imagine a life where you don't have to work at all,all you have to do is look glamorous.That must be the life of the WAGs(Wives and Girlfriends)of the current football team.Alex,Carly,Colleen,Cherly and of course,Victoria, all seem to have an ideal life.I can imagine some women looking at them and thinking, you lucky bitches!

But hang on,whatever happened to feminism?I would hate to think this is what most women would want,a life utterly devoted to materialism and totally dependant on a man.None of these women seem to have any aspirations to have careers,all are quite happy with the label Footballers Wife/Partner.I doubt if any of these women have heard of Betty Friedan or Germine Greer(wasn't she in Big Brother?).The idea of achievement on your own talent, or being self sufficient is not what these women are about.As long as she can shop using the credit card, or go to that magazine shoot, who cares?

In a world obsessed with celebrity and consumerism,getting pictured in Heat,buying the lastest Gucci handbag is all that matters.What an empty shallow life this must be.Constantly competing with each for media attention,going to the lastest restuarant and alsways having to look your best,it must be hard work just to keep looking good.

Maybe feminism is dead, and that's what all women secretly want:to be looked after.I damn well hope not.

I love the sun.If I had godlike powers like Jim Carrey in that movie,I could make the sun shine every single day!You cannot fail to notice the change in people when the sun shines.People seem happier,and women wear more summer friendly clothing, us men get in touch with our inner lech.

The one thing that really pisses me off is the tube.The extreme heat seems to baffle the managers of the underground.They have not come up with an adeqaute plan to keep the system cool during the heatwave.You are squashed in a crowded carriage in stifling heat.No ventilation at all.Surely,someone can devise a workable system of air conditioning.It not as if we have just discovered hot weather,1990,1996,1997 and 2003 were all hot summers.So what is the problem?Every year we pay for increased fares,but the sevice is still below standard.Overcrowding and delays in normal weather,melting tube lines and trains stuck in tunnels in a heatwave.It's a disgrace!Their response:make sure you have some water with you on the train!What??

No one seems to have the imagination to have a modern underground system for the 21st century.It's all well and good getting the Olympic Games, but how can we say that we are a modern city if our basic infrastructure is still stuck in the 1970s?I suspect that the managers of the Tube don't actually use it.Ken Livingstone hired all these Americans like Bob Kiley with big money salaries and houses,but what has changed?

One of these days, someone is going to pass out in the heat, and then we'll do something about it.
