Who would have thought ten years ago that we would be worrying about suicide bombers on the Tube? How the world has changed in such a short period of time. From 9/11 to the invasion of Iraq, our whole way of life has been altered.

Despite all the despair, we must remain hopeful. Those who carry out suicide attacks, those who finance them, those who silently give their support and encouragement have not answered a key question:What is the role of the the muslim in this century? In the age of the Internet, globalisation, mass production and rampant capitalism where do the followers of Islam fit in?It cannot be by harking back to the dark ages and spreading hatred. There must be Islamic thinkers who are forwarded enlightened enough to have a new philosophy.

Those who preach hatred, who call for martyrdom,(they never do it themselves, they always get the young and the gullible to do it), have to be ostracised. They do not offer solutions, all they offer is hate and death. The only doctrine they believe is their egos and their own self importance.Bin Laden must have an ego the size of a small planet.

The followers of Islam need to condemen those who advocate terrorism. They also need to think about the role of Islam in the West and in the wider world.Suicide bombing just won't cut it.
